Synopsis
Last chance to make a difference
Feeling a little sluggish, 64-year-old auto mechanic, Oscar Leone, goes for his annual check-up. He receives a diagnosis of terminal cancer and joins a support group of other terminal patients for support. His ex-brother-in-law, Eddie, also lends support and encourages Oscar to reconnect with his only daughter with whom he lost contact after his divorce. Oscar asks, “You mean all these people are going to die?” Therapist Elizabeth replies, “We’re all going to die. These folks just have bad timing.”
At therapy, support transforms into a mission as the group, now calling themselves the “Terminal Squad,” decides to do something meaningful with the time they have left in their lives and go “out with a bang.” The Terminal Squad hatches a suicide mission to stop a ruthless African warlord who enslaves women and children.
Pooling their resources and with Eddie’s help, they plot an elaborate scheme. The US Government catches wind of their plan and forbids them from initiating it. Using fake passports, they plunge ahead with their plan. The group unexpectedly splits.
Group One uses itself as bait, as it infiltrates and poses as an arms dealer with the latest in war technology for sale to the warlord. Group Two poses as buyers of children to gain information. Oscar’s now-pregnant daughter hears of his illness and wants to reunite with him. Oscar must choose between leaving the mission or returning home to his only daughter.
In Africa, one vital member of the squad dies earlier than expected and his healthy son takes his father’s place in his name. The first group engages with the War Lord. Just before the plan is to be launched, Oscar learns that there was a mistake in his diagnosis, and he is not dying. He must decide whether to live and return home or help his new friends complete their suicide plan and die with purpose and meaning.
The decision is made for them when the warlord discovers that they are impostors. A battle begins while the warlord escapes with his entourage and a truck loaded with twenty enslaved children. Group Two arrives to thwart the escaping warlord. A second gunfight erupts and several of the Terminal Squad members lose their lives saving many children and eliminating the warlord and his elite staff of thugs.
