Synopsis

The most important test of their lives.

English teacher Frank Goodman fears he is an asshole. He makes his students cry, neglects his pregnant wife and drinks in his classroom.

His co-worker, Pre-Calculus teacher Alice Rivitor, has it even worse. After dreaming of working at NASA, Alice now finds herself evicted, drowning in debt and trapped in a job she hates. Unable to take it any longer, Alice orchestrates a scheme to kidnap a class of wealthy students during their Saturday morning SAT exam.

To pull this job off, Alice recruits two co-workers—single-parent gym teacher, Coach Tanya and widowed school receptionist, Mrs. Marie—with the promise that the ransom will earn them two million dollars each.

The day of the kidnapping, the campus seems empty, except for the stoner weekend janitor, Jack Giraldo. As he makes his rounds, Jack unexpectedly discovers Frank, who slept in his classroom after his wife kicked him out the night before. Meanwhile, Alice, Marie and Tanya start tying up the students. But after some needling by a catty class clown, Alice gets reckless and accidently shoots a hostage. Alerted by the bang, Jack and Frank search the campus and discover a blood-splattered classroom full of guns, desperate teachers and screaming students.

After Alice threatens death to any student calling the police, Frank decides he and Jack must launch a rescue mission, which he believes will redeem his failures as a teacher and prove he is ready for fatherhood. Despite his reluctance, Jack agrees on one condition: he can call in his cousin Beef—a part-time security guard who moonlights as a semi-professional wrestler.

Beef arrives with a golf cart full of unconventional weapons, looking to kick ass and take names. Meanwhile, Alice grows paranoid and crazed with power as Coach Tanya begins to regret her involvement in their risky scheme.

As the two sides collide and the body count rises, the kidnappers start to turn on each other while the makeshift posse of heroes launches a wonky attempt to save the day. Packed with action and clever gags, this film uses a rollercoaster plot to explore the love-hate relationship between students and teachers.
