Synopsis
An almost totally true story
Jackie Green, a renowned self-help, life coach guru, and author reluctantly returns to her hometown, Pawtucket, for her father Harold Rock Green’s funeral and all hell breaks loose. Jackie’s mother, Hoda, who lives in an assisted living community, and Jackie’s sister, Dana, are both living in Pawtucket and insist that Jackie stay in town to handle the funeral and all Harold’s affairs.
Jackie reunites with her childhood-next-door-neighbor, David Schwartz, now a doctor with whom she starts a budding romance. Jackie also meets Lily, a young woman she believes to be the daughter Dana long ago gave up for adoption. Jackie forms a deep bond with. Lily who is pregnant and tries to get Dana to see her, but Dana refuses. As a result, Lily runs away sending Jackie on a mission through Pawtucket to find her. Jackie ultimately has a meltdown, disguised as a drunk rant, at a Karaoke bar due to the resurfacing of her past including memories of Harold’s tough and volatile personality. Jackie is forced to face the fact that all her life coaching expertise is based on lies. She doesn’t have any answers about life – especially her own.
A year later the family reunites at Harold’s graveside for the anniversary of his passing. Dana connects with Lily’s baby who crawls over the grass to her, as we see Jackie and David are now together, and Hoda is at the grave enthusiastically complaining as always.
