Management
An entertainment manager can be of great value to a writer, especially those new to the industry. Yet, achieving representation in Hollywood is not easy. Many screenwriters cannot find an entertainment agent or manager to help them get their script produced and advocate on their behalf once the studios show interest. Finding and locking in a reputable entertainment representative is a difficult chore that even accomplished authors find challenging. Riveting River uses its connections and expertise to introduce top-tier agents and managers to promising screenwriters. Once the introduction is made, we help facilitate the signing and continue to be part of the management process by advising screenwriters on staying engaged with their representatives. We also continue to maintain open communication channels with the agents and are ready to assist in whatever manner possible.
Signing with an entertainment manager is not an easy task, and this is especially true for writers who do not reside in Hollywood and/or are new to the business. If these writers are lucky enough to get in touch with a potential manager, unless they are already successful, they will rarely be offered to be represented. That is where Riveting River can help. We perform many of the tasks that an entertainment manager might provide. Once a writer’s screenplay reaches a certain level, they can submit their script to be included in our portfolio. While they continue to retain full rights to the screenplay, we can help shop it around to see if a studio is interested. Once a studio shows interest, our legal team may assist with negotiating agreements between the writer, the studio, and other interested parties. Lastly, if the project moves forward, we are also available to assist the writer with finding their own entertainment manager for the future.
We are always seeking out new projects for our portfolio. Writers who do not have a manager, but seek to have us fill the role for the interim, may apply to have their screenplay added to our portfolio. This process is started by submitting the script for an initial review.
When a writer meets with a studio, it is essential that the interaction be adequately planned and conducted efficiently. The policies and procedures that a good manager brings to the table—organization, responsiveness, and professionalism—are hallmarks of what Riveting River can provide. We recognize that many of the writers we represent are unknown talent, lacking managers. We fill the entertainment manager role in the process so that the studio can immediately get down to business with any screenplay that is of interest.
Our legal team steps in and quickly evaluates contracts and, if the process moves forward, takes the lead in seeing that agreements move through the sign-up process smoothly and correctly. Riveting River also arranges and facilitates meetings between the writer, the studio, and other parties as needed. In other words, even writers currently having no representation will be shepherded by Riveting River to keep the project on track.
