Producer
Ben Thum
Ben, who conceived and developed the concept for A Gift for Laughter, is an award-winning radio and television producer and former Los Angeles talk-radio personality. He has interviewed many top comedians and has long been intrigued by why so many of them come from Jewish families.
In a quest for answers Ben has filmed dozens of interviews with comedy greats, including Carl Reiner, Sid Caesar, Shelley Berman, Mort Sahl, Dick Van Dyke, and Jerry Stiller. Their insights serve as social and cultural windows into the unmatched Jewish gift for bringing joy and laughter into our lives.
Ben has received the Los Angeles Times Golden Mike Award for Best Radio Interview Program three years in a row and produced and directed Alley Cracker, the definitive documentary on his life-long sporting passion, the game of handball. Ben is currently revising his autobiography to include himself.
